Siobhan is a bright and bubbly teenager who has been self-managing her NDIS plan for four years.
Siobhan has aspirations of moving out of home by the time she is 22 and has a larger goal of competing for Australia in Boccia at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
The NDIS allows Siobhan to employ support workers and access assistance to help when she is ready to move out.
Thanks to the NDIS, Siobhan can now go out shopping with friends, and has even started going to a personal trainer a few days a week.
“The NDIS has helped me be more independent and do more of what I love,” says Siobhan.
“I have a big interest in technology, and thanks to NDIS support, I’ve recently secured my first job as a peer mentor for people who use alternative communication, like me.”
“I have a passion for alternative communication and I am now entering a space where I can help other people to use it.”
