The National Disability Insurance Scheme will become available in the Central Coast district from July 2016.
The Central Coast district covers the local government areas of Gosford and Wyong.
With so many people coming into the scheme in such a short time it is important that there is a planned approach to how they access the NDIS.
Accommodation support provides specialist accommodation to people with disability or help to remain in their existing accommodation. It includes group homes, residential centres and in-home living support.
If you receive accommodation support and meet the NDIS access requirements you can access the NDIS from July 2016. We will help you access the NDIS through a simplified process.
Community access and community support
Community Access and Community Support covers a large range of supports, including therapy, day programs and intervention services.
If you receive these supports and meet the NDIS access requirements you can access the NDIS from July 2016. We will help you access the NDIS through a simplified process.
Respite and community care
Respite and Community Care are supports that provide short-term breaks and practical help such as respite and domestic assistance.
If you receive these supports and meet the NDIS access requirements you can access the NDIS throughout the rollout period. People receiving respite services will go through a simplified process. People receiving community care services will be supported to apply for access to the NDIS.
Supporting people who are in immediate need of assistance, and do not currently receive support, is important during the rollout. There is some capacity during the rollout for people who have not previously received supports to access the scheme when it starts in their local area.
